The Dolores County Clerk and Recorder’s office has been serving the people of Dolores County since 1881. We serve as Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners and we are agents of the State of Colorado Department of Revenue.
The primary services we provide the public are:
- Motor vehicle-titling and registration
- Recording of land documents
- Elections and voter registration
- Marriage Licenses
The cost of marriage/civil union license is $30.00. Both parties must be present, proof of age is required-(drivers license, state issued ID, birth certificate, etc.) Licenses must be used within 35 days of issuance and returned to the County within 63 days for recording.

The person who will be title holder must complete the paperwork. We must have that person’s driver’s license and signature. A parent or spouse is not an acceptable substitute.
If vehicle is being titled in the name of a business, a “Letter of Authorization” will be needed. This should be on business letterhead and state that the person completing the paperwork is authorized to sign and conduct business on behalf of the company.
